LAKE NOTICE:  The park's lake is temporarily closed to all boating, allowing for maintenance and construction projects.  

Located near the northern edge of the mysterious Okefenokee Swamp, this park is home to many fascinating creatures and plants, including alligators and carnivorous pitcher plants.  Walking or biking along the lake’s edge and nature trail, visitors may spot the shy gopher tortoise, numerous oak varieties, saw palmettos, yellow shafted flickers, warblers, owls and great blue herons. The park’s lake offers opportunities for fishing, swimming and boating, and kayaks and bicycles are available for rent.  The Lakes, a championship 18-hole golf course, features a clubhouse, golf pro and junior/senior rates. Greens are undulating rather than tiered. Each fairway and landing area is defined with gentle, links-style mounds that accent the course’s three large lakes.  The park’s namesake was a Georgia writer, teacher, civic leader and naturalist who loved trees and worked for their preservation.

Get Outdoors GeorgiaCharity golf tournament sponsored by the Friends of Laura S. Walker State Park to raise funds to benefit the park and golf course. Proceeds will be used to maintain, repair, and improve the park and golf course. Nighttime Sky Watch Program

Fishing Clinic

Come learn fishing tips and tricks from the experts. Fisheries biologists with Georgia DNR will be discussing information and techniques you can use to help you land your next fish. Attendees will be eligible to participate in our raffle prize drawings as well. $5 parking. 912-287-4900.
Earth Day Hike

Get Outdoors GeorgiaIn celebration of migratory bird month, join a park ranger to learn about the birds. From 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM, we will discuss the different birds you might see in Georgia. Junior Ranger Camp

Get Outdoors GeorgiaChildren will participate in activities that focus on the outdoors and work toward earning a Junior Ranger badge. Volunteer Workday - Your State Parks Day
